People are not interchangeable parts.
In a capitalistic society? Yes, they are.
Really? So, the local hospital can hire me as a brain surgeon in the event of a doctors' strike?
You live in a funny world. On my planet, capitalists make money from getting a particular job done. No employee --> no job done, but also no payroll; incompetent employee --> no job done AND they still get paid.
I ain't hiring you to run my business, that's for sure.
From a capitalists point of view, it doesnt who you are, as long as you achieve the desired result, efficiently, on or before schedule and without costing more than budgeted.
If the only surgeon goes on strike and the needed surgery is immediate and dire, then either the surgeons demands are met or you find another one, whatever the cost.
it all comes down to money in the capitalists view. People do not exist, they are merely resources to be used like any other commodity.
