Current developments in Biological Transistors may signal that future may not be as far off as some thought just a few years ago.  Imagine a live bio-computer in your home that functions on glucose solution?

Yet, electronics are not dead, several century's from now a functioning "Android," possibly referred formally by then as a Cyborg, will have vital electronic interfaces to go between the Biological, Power, and Mechanical structures.  Electronics require electrical power, cooling, and shielding from EMP or the android/cyborg/Bio-computer with cease to function.

How many of our science fiction stories / movies / writers guessed this one?

Apparently, this is the basis for cures for every known disease (including aging), limb and organ regeneration.  You could also throw in elimination of damaged genetic code related to birth defects.  A boon for individuals.

A nightmare for governments.  Think, Bourne Legacy.  I wonder how long before we see "Nation Security Considerations" quietly disappear any mention of this research.

Interesting that in the middle of this age of free information, how much of what should matter is simply hidden in the background noise so it fades away unnoticed..
