So our freelance spy continues with Slick Willie. Also, I'm shaking my head at the unprofessionalism of our wannabe Lothario. Bringing Nicole to his own apartment? Calling his boss with any possibility of Nikki being within earshot? Okay, I understand that the main function of 'Mr. President' is to function mainly as a cutout, but I have problem believing someone employing so unprofessional underlings would stay in business for long.

Also, Nikki's got a temper. I see a possible assault in future... Unless she can keep it together and arrange for a suitable 'airlock accident' in near future.

I bet he arranged for good ole Phil to be playing with her favorite band, just to get her riled up about her relationship too.  I just hope she plays it safe and doesn't give away what she knows before he figures it out.

I'm NOT yet sure if he's the one who sent the thugs or not, though.  But I could have missed some key detail earlier, I'm good at that.

Mirror: Actually, the "boss" (Whose name is Mr. Graves) called Rando, not the other way around.

On purpose. Recommend you hit the archives for better understanding of the situation, especially comics 199-200 (It's the same Mr. Graves.)

Especially unprofessional in this case. Can you imagine this same call getting through at the concert or some other time?

Ok, this is a rush job, but I still get the feeling our freelance spy-ring is operating on awfully slapdash basis. Or perhaps I'm making inappropriate comparisons to professionals who have nation-state resources behind them.

Well, bear in mind that Nicole wanted to see his apartment, so he didn't have that much choice. However, I think Nicole would have been better served by feigning ignorance, and pumping HIM for info while handing him a line of BS that he would pass up the line  . . . which would result in probably both he and his employer being eliminated when the disinformation was revealed as such. But Nicole is young and impulsive . . .

Any hope I had that Rando might yet turn out to be a sympathetic character just went out the window.

For all its flaws, the movie Sucker Punch showed that a woman with a weapon is not a victim.

Things don't looks bright for Nicole, maybe she should have been carrying something has low tech has a pepper spray, especially since I remember that Her zinger was taken away at the airport and she have been walking around disarmed all this time.

Line crossed.

By the way, do zringers have a stun setting or did Nicole just attempt to kill Rando? If she did, she's lucky she failed. I can't see Lunar courts letting her get away with that under the ostensible circumstances. Or even under the actual circumstances. Nanny governments have these quaint notions of proportionate response.

Now how is Rando going to get away with punching Nicole? He can't kill her -- he'd be the prime suspect, which is an uncomfortable position to be in if you're guilty (even more than if you're not, I mean). Perhaps he's simply relying on evading the police.

I have the impression that Rando is a criminal, and won't mind torturing and killing Nicole.

I have a feeling the only thing that could save Nicole now would be either the pathetic boyfriend or the reporter from Mercury, after stalking her all night long.

Nicole has got an awfully good muscle memory for a recent self-defense virgin. Take her zinger to the range at L5 much? Reflexes implanted on a chip?

"A world with violence -- that is to say, with men -- but without weapons is the worst of all possible worlds for women. As the saying goes, 'God made man and woman; Colonel Colt made them equal'." - Old saying Paraphrased by Ann Coulter.

Dang it I knew something bad was going to happen when the loonies confiscated her zringer.  So, was the principle behind the zringer ever touched on, did I miss it?

Rando's action was rude and very over the top.  Which brings to mind another quote by my perennially favorite author - "An armed society is a polite society."  RAH

Speaking of which,  The Science Channel  is premiering it's take on Robert A. Heinlein tonight on its "Prophets of Science Fiction",  if anyone is interested.
