I wouldn't worry about Juan.  He's dead.

And his assassin will probably be walking through the door any second now...

I wonder if Hyami had her body stolen? Same chassis, different brain.
Stupid criminals put on a mask and rob people with a gun.
Smart criminals put on a suit, call themselves politicians, and rob people with writ of law.

IIRC, there WAS another Artifolk who had it in for her and her earlier companions.

And that was a story line never completely resolved. Mr. Grimes simply seemed to vanish without much explanation of who or what he was. He was slippery enough I could see him still being around. Especially if he is some kind of multi-bodied life form.

500 years is a looong time to hold a grudge, even for an artifolk.

Well Murphy trashed his body pretty well, but like most of the characters in the Vibeverse, he probably had multiple personality backups, and after having Murphy defeat him TWICE, i'd think his grudge would be pretty intense.

Not dead.  Taken captive as leverage.
Whatsoever, for any cause, seeketh to take or give
Power above or beyond the Laws, suffer it not to live.
Holy State, or Holy King, or Holy People's Will.
Have no truck with the senseless thing, order the guns and kill.

That's assuming nothing happened for the past 500 years and that a grudge is the only factor. There are Ideological differences involved too.

I don't know why, but Juan's last line made me laugh like a loon.

(Sigh). My sense of humor is apparently that of a 12-year-old.

I've run across indications that holding grudges can help you live longer.  I've got some petty grudges that should get me to the century mark.  I've got some big damn grudges that should last me until the sun grows cold.

I am increasingly subscribing to the Idea that there is no data to indicate who she was working with because, right up until her body was stolen she wasn't working with anyone other than Alyss.

Yabbut - 'He' wouldn't know that it was Murphy who scragged him.  All his replacement would know from the standpoint of the latest gestalt back-up prior to launch was that his previous incarnation didn't return from a mission against Theo/Seamus et al.  Of course, he could deduce that one or more of his intended targets got the better of him and come after the whole crew on general principle.

Speaking of bigger problems, what's with Diana's sudden obsession with synthetic boobs?

Though even not real, they are spectacular.
