Watch out, you're being followed by an aardvark.  Don't get antsy.

Clearly a wretched hive of scum and villainy. They must be cautious.

It's obvious that he's not an "innocent by-stander" but he may be a "friendly".  ;)

I wonder if their tail is Murphy.
Stupid criminals put on a mask and rob people with a gun.
Smart criminals put on a suit, call themselves politicians, and rob people with writ of law.

I wonder if their tail is Murphy.

Not unless it's an earlier iteration of Murphy. The current Murphy is on a Sorlaxian ship, on a rendezvous with the Cush about now.

Maybe Eithne got "clever", and named all the fake ships in the forged log something scathing to the reader, tipping them off early. Maybe whoever's responsible for the tap figured anyone who got a look at the code would notice the extra log, and is proactively seeking out the most recent person to look at it, to make sure his/her/it's secret is still safe.
Maybe someone "made" their ship, and wants to know why an undercover butthead police cruiser is now parked on this black rock.
Maybe Mezzy is having them followed to see who she sells the data to.

Or, maybe he/she/it figures these two are the most vulnerable, yet reasonably wealthy, targets, and has decided to roll them. That would be fun to watch.
Anyone know a recipe for aardvark stew?

There are two earlier versions of Murphy and one Hugo unaccounted for. They may have taken refuge in the one place most like home. Depending on what her hood is made of, a Terrahertz camera may be able to see through it.

Personally, I'd like to think that if it WAS Murphy, and she's recognized Eithne, (not hard to do, as her implant is probably easily identified by any other implant, or artifolk, that's commed with her, even if that mask isn't holographic, or transparent to key frequencies,) she'd ping her, and reestablish contact. Something along the lines of "Eithne, what are you doing here?"

I'm not sure page=1636 accounts for one of the Hugos.

So our Aardvark friend...let's call him "Greedo" can understand her? One point in favor of it being one of the Murphies or Hugos who came to this Galaxy on earlier expeditions.

Or, someone who got the translation matrix from the buttheads, which is potentially worse for Eithne than if it were just any random thug.

Did you notice the double thumbs and mammaries? Maybe someone else is wearing a mask. While one, or the other, and I'd chalk it up to that's what people look like here, we've already established that there are different hands, and number of eyes. It seems to be the buttheads thing that they have four of those things, rather than two. Thumbs, breasts, eyes.

And once again our space sprite proves that hearing about her speed is VASTLY different than experiencing it firsthand.

And barring some facial reinforcement, he know has some major injuries. If he survives, he's going to need some reconstructive surgery.

Good call!  I did not notice that.  It could very well be a glutean wearing that mask.  Also, the aardvark snout would conceal the glutean proboscis.  Face would be a bit squished though.

The firearm fell down into the ship workings... That should be considered a ticking time bomb until it is found.
